The absolute best Rivalry no matter the time or place in my opinion OU/Texas. It's not just football it's every sport in my mind. There are plenty of reasons. So here are a few.
Football is just great for many reason.
Tom Herman is just so cocky but that's not it. Why does cocky work in this scenario well just ask me 3 years ago. Oklahoma just got done playing Clemson and were looking for Back to Back CFP appearances. Then Oklahoma loses to Houston coached by Tom Herman.
They took one of OUr best players in Sooner history. They took him and he became a LEGEND in the Burnt Orange Darrell K Royal. I mean they named their stadium after him for goodness sake. Think this ever since they named it after the Sooner and Longhorn Legend they have NEVER played in DKR.
But what makes a great Rivalry is Taunting in sport. A lot of schools you here put your ones up you know what that means. At Texas they feel special enough to have their own call. We all know what it is but what's fun is flipping it upside down. Sooner fans will remember it's such a thing. The Sooner were told if you put the Horns Down at time your getting a Penalty. This was said the week going into the Big 12 Championships.
