For the first time since 2011 the OKState Cowboys are back in the WCWS talks. They are the fourth team on Oklahoma side of the bracket on Thursday night. Here is an OKState softball preview.
The Cowgirls enter the WCWS with a (44-15) overall record and an even (13-5) Big XII Conference record. The Cowgirls were (12-5) in neutral site games in 2019. With OKC being so close to Stillwater and Norman and since both teams are on this side of the bracket I will include this also. The Cowgirls are (18-3) in road trips in 2019.The Cowgirls finished their Big 12 tourney bracket undefeated and would have faced the possibly Oklahoma for a 4th time for the title if the last day of the tourney wasn't cancelled due to rain.
This was a HUGE year for the Cowgirls but this game really put the revived Cowgirls back on the map. They beat Oklahoma other rival Texas (2-1) in a (3) game series in Stillwater. To get back it official and get back to the WCWS they Cowgirls upset the Defending National Softball champs Florida State in Tallahassee. This helped the Cowgirls get back to OKC again for the 1st time since the year 2011. They will play Florida in the opening round on Thursday night at 6:00 PM.
Pitching
Samantha Show runs the Pitching show for the Aggies (No Pun Intended). This year she leads Aggie Nation with a (2.37)ERA. She lead the Cowgirls with Strikeouts and in walks. Her numbers so far are at (111) Strikeouts and (59)Walks. She has given up the most Homers for the Cowgiels in 2019 at (15) Homers.
Batting
(10)Maddie Sue Montgomery comes into the WCWS with a Cowgirl leading Batting average of (.353). She had done this in (173) batting attempts. She only has struckout (31) times and walked (27) times. She has number (1) on the team in walks. She has also has had the least number of strikeouts in 2019. She is however 7th on the team with (6) Home Runs and also (2nd) on the team with (47) RBIs.
Up Next
The next game for the Gators they will kick off the night session Games in the 3rd game between OKState Cowgirls. Winner will play the winner or loser of the Bamma/Oklahoma winner respectively.
