(80) is the magic number of till Houston/Oklahoma. The next few weeks I will blog my favorite Offensive and defensive players to wear the respective jerseys till gameday. First up is (80) my favorite Defensive Specialist is (80) Ricky Bryan-(1980-1983) the Defensive lineman. Offensively is a lot more recent but who cares (80) Gant Calcaterra-(2017-present).
Defensively in the early 80 Ricky Bryan set the tone upfront on the D-Line. His (365) tackles as a D-Lineman beats out Kevin Murphy and Lee Roy Selmon. After the 1983 season he spend some time with the Atlanta Falcons. in 1984 he was awarded the Rookie of the Year award in the NFL as a Falcon. In July of 2009 the Sooner Nation lost my Bryan due to a Heart Attack. He was only (47) years old.
Offensively (80) is a GameChanger with the Size of a TE and the speed of a WR (80)Grant Calcaterra. in 2018 Grant started 11 of 14 games at the TE/WR rolls. I cant decide on his most memorable plays while at Oklahoma. But two stick out in the back of my mind. In 2017 was a True Freshman Baker finds Grant in the Endzone for a TD. That was number (1) till we rematched with Texas. In this game Kyler finds Grant in the Endzone for a Game Clinching TD in Arlington against Texas.
