Its the Sooner Football Countdown (79) days. now (79) is basically used as more of an OLine or Dline number. This really limits what we look at but its not hard to see who some of the best (79)s are for example (79) Mark Hutson from (1984-1987) & and the Big load himself (79) Phil Loadholt.
First of all (79) Mark Hutson as a True Freshman he made clocking the left side Cool as a left Guard in 1984. In the National title season of 1985 when they Sooners played Texas he was moved from LT to LG. Hutson stayed at Left Guard until he was done playing at the University of Oklahoma. In 1988 Hutson was drafted by Tom Landry and Americas Team the Dallas Cowboys. he was the(67) pick in (1988).
(79) Phil Loadholt might not have done what Huton did in winning a national title. He was however 60 minutes away from one in 2008 when the Sooners play the Gators of Florida in the National Championship game in South Beach (Miami Florida). He stated however at okahoma in 2007.This time around he started all 14 games in 07. in 2008 he not only lead helped the Sooners to the National title game. He also helped keep Slinning Sammy B upright giving up only (11) sacks all season. In 2009 the Vikings drafted Loadholt in the 2nd round. He never blocked for AD Peterson while at Oklahoma but he did block for him at Minnesota.
