Just like in college Football in the end it seems like Bamma always eventually plays Clemson in football it's the same story for Softball. The only exception is instead of Alabama always playing Clemson they are always playing the Oklahoma Sooners.
The Softball rivalry as we know it began in an WCWA Championship round game back in 2012. The Sooner Scooner won the first game with a final of (4-1). The second game was all Bamma with a (8-6) victory the Sooners did make things interesting however scoring (5) of the (6) runs in the bottom of the seventh. Game (3) was all Oklahoma till about half way though the game game a HUGE rain delay. Bamma answered and showed what how National titles are won with hard work and no excuse. Bamma won the NCAA title in 2012.
The two teams did not clash again till 2014 meeting again in OKC. This time it was in the first round of the WCWS. One loss only knocked ya down to the losers bracket you were not done. Bamma sent the sooners to the losers bracket in 2014 with a final score of 6-2.
One year later they would again play in 2015. This time however was a Super Regional in Tuscaloosa Alabama. The Sooner Crimson shined winning the first game with a final of (5-2). With their backs against the wall Bamma again showed why they were championship material. This time the Tide won the next (2) games with final scores of (2-0) & (5-3) respectively.
2016 the Sooners took out their frustrations on the Tide not just once but twice. The first match came in the non conference schedule when the Sooners outlasted the Tide (2-0) in Fulton California as part of the (Easton Tournament). Then in the NCAA Tournament in the first round of the 2016 WCWS the Sooners again OUtlasted the Tide with a final score of (3-0). The WCWS edition lasted all the way until the 8th inning when the Sooners put up their three runs. The lone runs were all scored by then True Freshman Shay Knighten.
The real question is what does 2019 have in store. Well you won't have to wait long to find out. Tune into the final game of the opening day Game (4) of the WCWS tonight. The game will be played approximately 30 minutes after Game (3) between the Cowgirls of OK State and the Gators of Florida.
